Rutgers University has made great efforts to enlarge and strengthen SASP. But it is constrained by the overall budgetary situation. As a young and expanding program, SASP welcomes donor support. There two major fund-raising initiatives at present.
- The Chakra Endowed Fund was established through the generosity of an anonymous donor. It awards student essay prizes and supports the acquisition of South Asian academic journals by the Rutgers University Library. - The Bengali Language and Culture Initiative is dedicated to supporting the study and understanding of Bangla language and culture. It is directed by Professor Dipak Sarkar
