Cross-Border Strategic Planning Collaboration: A Tale of Two Entities

Thursday, February 08, 2018, 04:00pm

Karun Singh Talk

A talk by Karun Singh, Professor, Rutgers School of Social Work

Despite having noble missions and grand visions, many nonprofit organizations lack fundamental skills in strategic planning. Such competencies are required to achieve superior performance in the modern environment marked by constant change, competition, and complexity. During a recent visit to Bombay, India, I was asked by the board president of a 110-year-old nonprofit human services agency helping abandoned girls and women to develop a strategic plan to guide the board and its future CEO in planning for its future. As a professor who teaches management and leadership to graduate students at the Rutgers University School of Social Work, my presentation will focus on the process, results, and benefits of the collaborative partnership that my students and I entered into with the agency to provide free strategic planning consulting services from the United States.
