Interference/Fringe! A Talk By Artist Tallur Ln

Interference/Fringe! is a retrospective exhibition of one of India's most exciting contemporary artists, Tallur LN. On display at the Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton, NJ now, it consisting of 27 works that pair the sacred with the secular and the handmade with the machine-made to obscure & subvert traditional readings of Indian symbols. Tallur will screen his first film, Interference (2019), and discuss his inspirations. Co-sponsored with Art History.

This talk considers the critical possibilities of the term ‘mother tongue’ as part of Dalit feminist critiques of caste hierarchies and Dalit and non-Dalit patriarchies. It focuses on the works of Anita Bharti and Meena Kandasamy, both Dalit women authors who write in Hindi and English.
